"My heart broke when one of the older girls that I grew very fond of, told me that when I hugged her, she thought she could understand what ‘motherly love’ felt like."
Vicki was profoundly impacted by her visit to the school that the Mogra orphans attend in the local Slums and although she wasn’t prepared for the reality of the situation, she returned compelled to help, as a global citizen collectively effecting change.
Kenya Project Manager
Tara brings a background in business and marketing, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and years of volunteer and non-profit board experience.
Tara has always had a propensity to help others, but her love for Africa and her passion for effecting change were ignited during a volunteer trip to Mogra Rescue Centre, Kenya, in August 2016. After spending two weeks with the children and staff of Mogra, she came home with a deeper understanding of their dire circumstances and their need for help. Much of Tara’s time at Mogra was spent just connecting with the children and giving them the love that they so desperately need.
“My breaking point in Kenya, when the heaviness of it all came crashing down, was on day four at Mogra. Hannah, Mogra’s director, told me that my 18 year old sponsor child said to her ‘My mother died, and now I have a friend.’ I committed to sponsoring two more girls while I was there because I couldn’t bear the thought of them going to sleep each night thinking that no one loved them.”
A mother to three daughters, Tara comes to Linked Through Love with a passion for supporting and empowering vulnerable girls and young women.

‘Witnessing the many hardships that many families and children endure was absolutely heartbreaking. Holding a child in your arms whom craves your love and affection because they don’t have a family, knowing that they fully rely on the kindness of others to merely survive, I knew I couldn’t turn a blind eye to that heart wrenching reality. If not me, then whom?’
