Thank you to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to take the following to the places I visited:
- oranges, bananas, granola bars, soda
- school supplies, crayons, backpacks, stickers
- toiletries, toothbrushes, toothpaste, underwear
- soccer balls, mini sticks, skipping ropes, balloons
Depending on the need, Rose helped decide what to bring to each location.
There is one location in particular I visited, that is in need of our help. We have supported this location in the past. Our board members and friends of LTL have visited it many times. It is a Children's home that has expanded beyond the capacities of not only the home, but the house parents as well.
This home (which we cannot name at this time), is managed by Maman H. As many of you may know, Maman H. oversees the operations of many orphanages and programs in Kinshasa. She is a wonderful lady with a big heart. Her places are meant to be homes for the children who have no place to go. She selects house parents with the help of her pastor, and the children are given a new place to live with their new families. Love is the foundation in which each place is built on. Children attend school and heal from wounds that brought them to her Centres in the first place.
It is in the best interest of all children involved, to divide this home and move 10 children to a new home, with new house parents. I was taken to the new site in which 10 children will be moved to.
This new site has a lot of potential but needs A LOT of work.
This location is close to their current location and they will remain in contact with their previous home. I am sure the transition will be hard at first, but this will enable the children to receive more attention, both at the current location, and the new one.
Linked Through Love is grateful that we are able to add these 10 sweet kids into our feeding program. We look forward to bringing you more information about this home and the children soon.
The greatest gift you can give anyone is unconditional love…expecting nothing in return.
